Hi everyone, Welcome to Goguma!

Well, here we are — the blog is up. I hope you like the design, as it took me quite a while to get it looking the way I wanted. I did need some help from AI along the way, since I’m still very much a beginner when it comes to blogging.

On the “About me” page (link) I go into more detail about who I am. But if you want the short version: I’m a Spanish guy approaching 40 (not there yet) who moved to South Korea.

A blog? In 2026? Just open a TikTok, Goguma, like a normal person.

No thanks. Apart from not being a fan of dance videos (I’ll spare you the embarrassment), I don’t like social media that runs on algorithms. I don’t like being told what I need to do to “grow” on these platforms. Just give me a chronological feed and that’s it. I’m old school and I don’t like what these algorithms are doing to all of us.

How is the blog organised? What’s this all about?

I’ve tried to cover the topics I’m most interested in, and I’ll do my best to share the most interesting things I come across. I’ve set up 6 categories for now, though as I said the project is still a work in progress and things may change over time. For now they are:

Korea. Everything related to South Korea — news, curiosities, and stories from my life living here.

Linux. I recently made the switch to this operating system, so I’ll be sharing my adventures with it.

Privacy. Everything related to technology and privacy that I find worth sharing, including practical guides to improve your security and avoid scams.

Formula 1. My favourite sport. Enough said.

Spending. Before you panic — no, I’m not going to talk about macroeconomics. This section is about behavioural economics and the tricks companies use to get more money out of us.

Current Affairs. This is a bit of a catch-all section for everything that doesn’t fit anywhere else. Mostly interesting news I want to comment on, whether from Spain or anywhere else in the world.

But 6 categories? What’s your niche?

There is no niche. If you read any guide about starting a blog, the first thing they tell you is that you need a niche. But Goguma can’t make up its mind, so it’s doing everything at once.

Seriously, Goguma. What’s the niche? Don’t you want to make money from the blog?

Nope, there isn’t one. I’m doing everything at once. In multiple languages. And since my Korean isn’t great, I’ll need AI to help with that. I hope my Korean friends can make sense of it. And if not — well, the first year is already paid for, so I’ve got to go for it.

Hold on. You’re using AI on a blog? That makes you a bad blogger and a kitten killer.

I know a lot of people aren’t happy about bloggers using AI, as it strips away personality and contributes to what’s now called AI slop. But without AI I wouldn’t have been able to build this site at all — I see it as just another tool. The text will always be written by me. Some images will be AI-generated, and so will the translations, but the original content is mine. I promise 😉. In return, I’ll leave you with a very adorable picture of a goguma.
